I baked as a child, with my mother, as lots of us do. As I grew I became fascinated with celebration cakes - wondering HOW they did that! I read books about cake decorating, and decided one day I would learn to make wedding cakes.
I joined the British Army aged 16 and had a wonderful career. I represented my Country and the armed forces all over the world as a free-fall videographer, accelerated free fall instructor, competitor and member of the Red Devils Free Fall Team.
Upon leaving the Army in 2008, it was time to follow my heart and start baking.
I began baking and decorating cakes for friends and quickly gained the confidence to try bigger and better things. I knew from then that I had found my new career.
In time and with lots of encouragement from my patient husband, and wonderful family and friends ‘Sweet Charlotte Cakes’ was launched and I’ve never looked back.
Other than cake decorating, I'm a keen runner. I run any distance from 5km to marathon. I mostly love running through the Yorkshire Dales with my beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback, Heidi. You might meet her if you come for a wedding cake consultation. We love the big hills, the stunning views and the ridiculously fresh air.
I am currently back in training after fracturing my leg twice in 10 months (ouch!) and my next big race is Milton Keynes marathon in May 2020 (I therefore have limited availability for early spring 2020 due to my training commitments)
